Launch Your Home Grown Business Success with the Home Grown Business Grant

Do you have a retail, food and beverage, or entertainment concept you have always wanted to launch? Consider the Village of Fox Lake your official business launch pad. As of September 2026, the Village is offering a new resource called the Home Grown Business Grant to support both our existing business community and entrepreneurs who want to become part of it. This reimbursement grant program helps cover certain permanent improvements made to eligible commercial spaces. Qualified applicants may receive up to $50,000 to help build out their dream storefront. True to its name, the Home Grown Business Grant can reimburse up to 65% of eligible expenses when the primary applicant is a full-time Fox Lake resident.

Here are a few important details to keep in mind when considering this grant program:

• Up to 50% of eligible expenses may be reimbursed for qualifying permanent improvements.

• Up to 65% of eligible expenses may be reimbursed if the primary applicant is a full-time Fox Lake resident.

• A minimum investment of $10,000 in the subject commercial space is required to apply for the grant.

• This grant is available on a first-come, first-served basis and is subject to funding available for the adopted fiscal year.

• Commercial properties must be located within one of the two established Business Development Districts. View the Available Property Map to see eligible spaces within these districts.

• Village Board approval is required.

• Improvements completed before grant approval are not eligible for reimbursement.
